Walking and hiking is for all ages
TVTA is a charitable, non-profit organization encouraging walking and hiking as recreation for all ages.
Objectives
CONSERVE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT
The TVTA fosters appreciation and conservation of our natural environment through the development and maintenance of marked trails. Hikers are encouraged to stay on the trails in order not to disturb the surrounding forest and plants.
RECREATION
Its 600+ members are interested in encouraging walking and hiking as recreation for individuals of all ages. Hiking and walking are excellent ways to maintain physical and mental health.
TRAIL DEVELOPMENT
Maintain 110 KM of trails along Thames River, linking Elgin Trail at Elgin/Middlesex County Line (south) with the Avon Trail in St. Mary’s (north), as part of a broad network of trails extending to Port Stanley and Ottawa and beyond.
NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION
The TVTA is a charitable, non-profit organization with members paying minimal fees enabling them to use all 110 KMs of volunteer maintained trails. Group hikes are led by volunteer hike leaders.
